Mitchell E. Reeves, Mayor

Mitchell E. (Mitch) Reeves has spent more than three decades in law enforcement and supporting public safety.

He began his career at the Gulfport, Mississippi Police Department as a patrolman and then detective and Supervisor of Community Services. He went on serve as Chief of Law Enforcement for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, and Director of Mississippi Boat & Water Safety.

Mitch later moved into the private sector, establishing his own business, MR & Associates, where he managed sales and technical training for manufacturers of police, fire, and industrial products in the Southeastern region of the United States, and served as an independent sales representative with $2.2M direct/indirect sales. He remains the owner and president of that company.

He has worked in sales and marketing for a variety of companies supporting law enforcement. Those include Protective Apparel Corporation of America in Norris, TN; Nik Public Safety, Inc., Jacksonville, FL; and Code 3 Public Safety Inc. based in St. Louis, MO.

Mitch has lived in the Jacksonville area for 20 years, the last 10 in Atlantic Beach. He has been very involved in his community, serving as the president of the Jacksonville Beach Exchange Club in 2013, and as Division 5 Director of the State of Florida District #13 Exchange Board of Directors.

Mitch is a member of Beaches Watch, on the Board of Directors of the Beaches Division of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, served as chairman of the Keep the Ferry task force, and is a current board member for the Friends of the St. Johns River Ferry.

His extensive involvement in the community and interest in public policy led Mitch to run for Mayor of Atlantic Beach, winning the position in 2015. He is currently serving his first two-year term in that office.

Mitch attended classes at both Jefferson Davis Jr. College, Gulfport, MS and the University of Mississippi in Oxford where he studied juvenile justice.

Mitch has been married to Martha Marshall for 25 years. Their daughter Emily is a student of the University of North Florida (UNF).
